Mmmm peaches! So sweet and juicy! They’re great on their own, in pies, in cobblers, in ice cream. But have you ever tried to add some savory to your peaches and grill them? It’s a perfect, healthy summer treat! Here are two ways to grill peaches, one with goat cheese and the other with cinnamon. Much like Kate’s Watermelon Peach Salsa, this is an innovative way to use your produce! Try out grilled peaches and let us know what you think in the comments below.
Grilled Peaches with Goat Cheese and Honey
Serves 4
Prep Time < 5 mins
Grill time 5-8 mins
May also be prepared in a grill pan on the stovetop.
- 4 ripe peaches, halved and pitted
- Canola oil (can substitute any oil with a high smoke point like safflower, corn, soy, sunflower, or peanut)
- 4 oz (roughly) of crumbled goat cheese (you may substitute with blue cheese or feta)
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- Fresh ground black pepper
- Optional, chopped pecans
Preheat grill to medium heat. Brush the peach halves lightly with oil and place cut side down on the grate. Cook for 3-5 minutes, until the peach has caramelized and has nicely defined grill marks, but are not charred. Flip the peach over using tongs and grill on the skin side for 2-3 minutes, until heated through.
Remove from grill and sprinkle with the goat cheese, drizzle with honey, and add fresh ground pepper to taste. Top with optional chopped pecans for a nice crunch. Serve immediately.
Cinnamon Sweet Grilled Peaches
Serves 4
Prep Time < 5 mins
Grill time 5-8 mins
May also be prepared in a grill pan on the stovetop.
- 4 ripe peaches, halved and pitted
- Canola oil (can substitute any oil with a high smoke point like safflower, corn, soy, sunflower, or peanut)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon good quality cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- Pinch of salt
- Vanilla ice cream
- 1/4 cup pistachios, shelled and coarsely chopped, optional
In a large bowl, whisk together butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until well blended. Add peach halves and gently toss until well coated.*
Preheat grill to medium heat. Brush the grates lightly with oil to prevent sticking. Place peaches cut side down, on the grill. Cook for 3-5 minutes, until the peach, has caramelized and has nicely defined grill marks, but are not charred. Flip the peach halves over using tongs and grill on the skin side for 2-3 minutes, until heated through.
Remove from grill. Place a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and sprinkle with chopped pistachios, if desired. Serve immediately.
*If your peaches are extra sweet, you can skip the butter mix. Brush oil on the peach halves, sprinkle with cinnamon and a bit of salt and continue recipe as instructed above.
