This January, we are proud to support Meals of Wheels of Alamance, Wake and Durham Counties.
Alamance County Meals on Wheels mission is to provide in home nutritional services in Alamance County which improve and enhance quality of life; nourish the body, mind and spirit; and promote independent living for seniors and their families. ACMOW provides home delivered nutritious meals to homebound seniors Monday-Friday through out Alamance County. Program participants have a better quality of life by living independently in their own homes, through socialization with volunteers, well-balanced meals, decreased financial burdens, and the security of knowing someone will be checking on them daily.
Meals on Wheels of Wake County has served homebound elderly and persons with disabilities for 49 years. The first meals were delivered in 1974 and we have delivered over 10 million meals to date. We are the only daily, home meal delivery program in the county. Our program is specifically geared toward homebound seniors over 60 years of age, and other homebound persons with disabilities. Currently, over 1000 dedicated volunteers deliver meals to our homebound clients. Our meals are delivered complete and ready to eat. Approximately 1,400 people receive meals daily and more than 400,000 meals were served in fiscal year 2021/2022. Since 1974 Meals on Wheels of Wake County has provided a daily meal to our homebound senior and disabled neighbors. Each meal is given to a person who has lived a full and productive life. They have spent their lifetime helping others. Now they need our help.
Meals on Wheels Durham is a non profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults and other community members who are homebound and unable to provide proper nutrition for themselves in Durham County. Through daily meal delivery and regular contact with caring volunteers, we strive to positively impact our clients’ health, independence, and connectivity.
