How does this program work?
Once you sign up for our service and choose which box you would like as your weekly subscription box, you’re all set! You will get a menu e-mailed to you each week on Friday with choices for the following week’s delivery (each week has a different selection, depending on what’s in
If you do nothing, you will automatically receive your Weekly Subscription Box delivered to your desired location each week. If you would like to choose something different than your Weekly Box or choose to skip that week (or manage skips for future weeks), no problem! Just log onto the site, select from our online store during the order period and manage your account. Our order period is from Friday until Sunday at 11:30 pm.
Is it a contract?
Your membership with The Produce Box is not a long-term contract. You can cancel at any time. All memberships are automatically renewed each year and all members are billed the annual enrollment fee on their anniversary date for the upcoming season. Please complete all cancellations before your anniversary date to avoid this billing.
If you would like to cancel your membership, you may do so in your member account under the Manage Deliveries section, or you can contact our Member Solutions Team at email@example.com.
If you have an empty box to be collected, let us know on the form in your cancel confirmation email, and your ambassador will pick it up the following week. All cancellations must be made by the Sunday preceding the upcoming week’s order. A Box ordered by you or a weekly box not skipped before Sunday at 11:30 pm will be delivered that week.
What is the upfront fee?
There is a $20 non-refundable annual membership fee charged with your first order. This fee covers administrative costs and account set-up fees. Membership is automatically renewed each year on the Wednesday of the week of your expiration date and the fee is billed to your credit card. If you have a promotional coupon that discounts or defers the enrollment fee, only one promotional code may be used per new member.
Do I get to choose my Box each week?
When you become a member, you sign up for an AUTOMATIC weekly delivery of fruits, vegetables and other local items to your home, place of work, or other designated location. The contents of your Box will change week to week depending on the time of year, the weather, and quantities available.
During the weekend ordering period, you can go to the site to choose a Box other than the Weekly Box you chose when you enrolled. You can change your order as many times as you want throughout the weekend ordering period. If you don’t skip or change the Box, your weekly box will be automatically ordered for you. All charges are billed to your credit card on file once the deadline for changes passes each week (Sunday night by 11:30 pm). You’ll receive an email confirmation in both cases, along with details about your order.
What if I need to make a change to my order but have missed the deadline?
Any changes to your weekly order must be made by Sunday night at 11:30 pm. Once that deadline hits we are unable to make any changes to your order. Our farmers plan their harvest according to the count Sunday night, so it’s important. Thanks for understanding!
When do you deliver?
Currently, we deliver on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays each week. Your welcome email when you join will let you know which day you will receive your Box. We reserve the right to change your delivery day at any time with seven days notice. Notice will be given via email.
What about the weather? Where will my Box be left?
If the temperature is expected to be above 70, please designate a shady area for your box in the delivery instructions section when you enroll. You should leave a cooler out with an ice pack for your more fragile items and we will move them from the Box into your cooler and take the empty Box back.
Please keep in mind that we can’t guarantee the quality of the produce if you do not leave out a cooler. And be SURE to leave ice packs in the cooler. It becomes an “oven” in the heat if you don’t. Not good for fruits and veggies!
If the weather is questionable (during our colder months or the hurricane season), we will evaluate and contact you via email with updates. Every once in a while we do have to cancel deliveries if it is too dangerous for our Neighborhood Ambassadors to be on the road.
What if I don’t get the menu e-mail each week?
If you are not receiving our emails please call or email us right away and we will do our best to help you remedy the situation. We are not responsible for spam filters or other system/internet issues that prevent your inbox from receiving any reminder or menu emails. Please contact your ISP provider to resolve these issues. You do not need to receive the menu reminder to place your order, simply visit the site and log into your account anytime between Friday at 2pm and Sunday at 11:30pm to place your order or skip a week.
What’s the quality of your produce like?
We guarantee the quality of all produce and products you receive. If you have a quality concern, please let your Neighborhood Ambassador know as soon as possible. We’ll try to get you a replacement, or we will credit your member account for the item to use on your next order. We want to bring the farm to your table and have you enjoying those delicious fruits and veggies at your next meal!
What can I have delivered? Can I have just specialty items delivered?
You can create a Box of your own anytime that includes produce (or not!) and any of our delicious NC specialty items like chicken, pork, honey, cheeses, breads and more! Just select a BUILD YOUR OWN BOX to cover your delivery fee and build a Box that includes anything you’d like.
What is your policy on allergies?
Right now, we do not have a policy in place to use separate boxes for members with sensitivities. You could choose to order a Box that did not contain an item that you are allergic to. However, we cannot guarantee that there is not residue in any Box since they are recycled back to us each week from members.
Are your fruits & veggies organic?
We DO have many organic choices for our members. Our Organic Weekly Box is called the “O’Natural Box” and you can build your own box with organic produce from our add on items.

Are you similar to a CSA (community supported agriculture) or buying from a grocery store?
Great question! We feel like we’re VERY different from a CSA and a grocery store… in a good way! Unlike a CSA, you pay as you go and get to pick what you receive (plus it’s hand delivered to your door!). And we support more than 70 local farmers throughout the year — no grocery store can say the same!
