Recently, I had the pleasure of connecting with several of our dedicated farmers to chat about their summer endeavors. Picture this: the scorching heat, fields abuzz with activity, and the promise of a bountiful harvest on the horizon. It got me thinking about the incredible journey that every delicious piece of produce takes before it lands on your table.
Did you know that the groundwork for fall’s produce paradise starts as early as late June? Yes, that’s right! Our farmers kick off their preparations by nurturing young plants in greenhouses. These precious “sets” are carefully nurtured, while the fields continue to yield the last vestiges of the previous season’s crops. It takes about five weeks for these younglings to grow into resilient plants ready for transplantation.

Farmers skillfully wield a “disc harrow,” a nifty tool that breaks up dirt clods and mixes the soil.
