Blackening seasoning is a great way to add smoky herbacious flavor with a slight spice to any meats, seafoods, poultry or veggies!
Directions
Season protein or veggies by lightly coating in 1 tsp of vegetable oil per 1 lb of protein/veggies.
Put protein on a sheet tray and season to taste with blackening seasoning and salt.
Cook either on a grill or in a nice hot skillet. Once you get an initial sear on both sides, turn down heat to medium or move to a cooler part of the grill to avoid burning the spice too much.
Blackening seasoning is just as much named for the spice profile as for the seared burnt parts it creates when it touches heat. So a few dark spots are ok!
Make sure to cook protein fully or to FDA recommended internal temperatures. .
Enjoy!
